Welcome to Grade 5B!

This blog is a glimpse into the life of Grade 5B. Although this is our last term together, we will be regularly updating our blog and sharing insightful, strange, humorous and (most importantly) educational highlights with our friends and families.

The fourth term is often the busiest with exams, award ceremonies and final preparations for Grade 6, but it is also always the most fun! So sit back, relax and enjoy reading all about the adventures of Grade 5B!

Teacher's Week!

What a great start to the week for the teachers! A special appreciation certificate for each teacher at Rustenburg which we had to collect on stage, treats at tea time and lots more exciting things to look forward to this week. Thank you for making us feel so special, girls, we must be the luckiest teachers around!

A few CONGRATULATIONS are in order:
Week Three Class Awards:

Little Miss Sunshine: Caitlin R
Little Miss Diligent: Amy
Little Miss Creative: Neeta
Little Miss Manners: Nicola
Little Miss Pride: Jessica
Little Miss Organised: Sameeah, Samar
Little Miss Perseverence: Sarah

Week Four Class Awards:

Little Miss Sunshine: Khanyo
Little Miss Diligent: Caitlin B, Samar
Little Miss Creative: Chloe, Tabitha
Little Miss Manners: Neeta
Little Miss Pride: Sarah
Little Miss Organised: Jasmine
Little Miss Perseverence: Mbali

Well done girls, keep up your excellent efforts in the next few weeks!

We would also like to congratulate Nicola, Khanyo and Bronwyn for completing their music exams on Friday - it sounds like all three of them went very well. Tabitha also completed her ballet exam a little while ago and she received her certificate in assembly this morning - well done Tabitha!

It was a very warm day today! I think the weather symbols would have shown sunshine all day. I think the whole week is going to be a warm one girls, so please bring a water bottle to school so that you can drink lots during the day. It is also not necessary to be wrapped up in jerseys and blazers anymore!

Due to the stuffy air in the classroom, and given that we are learning about Ancient Greek education, we decided to sit outside under the trees for our History lesson today...just like the Ancient Greeks would have done. We travelled back in time and tried to imagine what it would have been like to learn the way the Greeks did. I think everybody was feeling glad to have been born a girl in this day and age rather than a girl in Ancient Sparta! I look forward to reading your letters to or from Nicolaus or Nicci...they should show just how things have changed since then.

Have a lovely afternoon. Stay cool and work hard on those oral presentations. See you tomorrow!

such fun!! Fifty years ago when I was at RGJS the teachers were old and strict and boring!!!! Thank you Miss N for all the effort you put into making the work so interesting - I even find helping with homework fun!
